SMG September 2024 Update

September 4th, 2024

We held our Annual General Meeting on June 26th at the Chocolate Lake Community Center.

As the summer winds down, we thought it would be timely to send out an update.

With the sale of the lands that encompass the West End Future Growth Node (WEFGN) by the Ontario Pension Board to Primaris REIT, we've turned our attention to engaging with their leadership out of Toronto. We've now had two productive meetings with their Vice President in charge of this project, Stephen Roy.  He says they are very interested in engaging stakeholders in the process. It is clear from our conversations that Primaris is beginning the process over again. The OPB design submitted to HRM by Cushman Wakefield back in 2021 is basically off the table. Primaris indicates they are going to fast track  their planning process with a submittable plan to HRM within 12-18 months followed by a projected phase one construction within 2 years. One key area of interest for them is zoning.

We also continue to engage with HRM planning and met on July 23 for a discussion on the project status and generally how approvals are made and when a master plan for the West End FGN will emerge. We are meeting again on September 4 with the HRM planners.
